ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia
I want to write a lot more here eventually, and I'm working on that. I'd like to have a section detailing my history with chronic illness, and then a section on everything I've done and am doing in an attempt to recover. But that takes time and energy, or spoons if you like. It will come along slowly.
A very brief history
I began showing symptoms in late 2007 when I was 33 years old, and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in May of 2010 by my GP, after ruling out everything else she could think of. A few years later, a specialist at Stanford diagnosed me with CFS, chronic fatigue syndrome, now called myalgic encephalomyelitis. For most of the time since then, my trajectory has been steadily downward. It began with odd levels of morning fatigue, and at its worst points I've been bedridden.
For now:
Polyvagal TheoryWhat's helping me a lot right now (December, 2023) is learning about polyvagal theory. Here's a page exploring what I've been reading and learning so far.
